“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” —1 John 4:18
Fear has the ability to halt us in our tracks. To prevent us from moving forward. Fear can hinder us. Fear can stunt our growth. And something so many of us are painfully familiar with—fear can paralyze us.
So how do we move past fear? When fear is pressing hard on us how do we overcome?
It takes a certain knowing as I like to say.
A knowing deep inside of Who and what is greater than fear.
Love.
Perfect Love that comes from the Father.
As our scripture today boldly proclaims, “Perfect love drives out fear!”
We know from 1 John 4:8 that God is love.
So the love we receive from the Father is perfect and when we allow it to invade our lives there is no room for fear! Love annihilates fear!
This scripture also states that we are made complete in love. The love of God that surpasses all knowledge completes us (Eph. 3:19). So looking at it from another angle, without the Love of God filling us up we are not complete. We need HIs love to fill us and consume us in order to make us whole.
The enemy doesn’t want you to know how simple living a life without fear actually is. Because fear can so grip us we have this sense about it as though we can never truly be free from it. But the Truth is—when you accept Christ’s perfect love fear has to G.O.! Period.
This is part of the resisting.
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” —James 4:7 NIV
If you have been consumed by fear lately take some time right now and begin to resist the enemy and everything he is trying to put on you. He already lost the battle—Jesus said, “In this world we will face trouble but take heart I have overcome the world!” (Jn. 16:33).
If you feel fear pressing on you—PRESS BACK!
Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (James 4:4)!
As I always say to my four and six year old kiddos—you’ve got the power because you’ve got Jesus in you!
So rise up today and declare—I’ve got the power over fear because I’ve got Jesus in me! Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world! The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in me and gives life to my body (Rom. 8:11).
Proclaim the blood of Jesus over your life right now and assault the one who has been attempting to assault you!
You have the mighty roar within of the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Rev. 5:5)! Don’t let fear silence you any longer! Rise up mighty warrior, rise up! You are victorious in the mighty Name of Jesus (1 Cor. 15:57)!
I love you!
Krissy

Thank you Krissy. This email popped up on my phone right after I texted my sister to please pray for me as I was struggling with fear today. I’d even said to her that I know that love casts out fear but I was having trouble experiencing that love. There came your post in my email and assured me of that love of God that is perfect even when we are unsure. Thank you. 🙂
Well praise God, Joan! He is so good that way… I just love the way He works. He is faithful!! More LORD. Bless you! Krissy
