“Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.”—Psalm 147:5
Staring at a blank word document with only these words typed on the page, “God is bigger than your fear” I wondered why I hadn’t finished this thought. I remember the day the Holy Spirit whispered these words of truth. This was all He said too. It was during worship at church one night. I reached for my phone to capture the thought and hoped to expand on it a little more but that’s all He wrote. Suddenly something came over me as I tucked my phone into my pocket and I fell to my knees weeping. This seemingly simple, yet profoundly powerful truth had hit my heart and I began to tremble.
God is bigger than your fear. These words echoed in my spirit as I felt the weight of fear begin to lift and the warm presence of my Abba Father surrounded me with His love. It was so simple. Yet so remarkably powerful!
The enemy would like us to believe that our fear is bigger than our God. But the simple truth of the matter is that it isn’t. In fact, nothing is bigger than our God. As our scripture boldly declares, “Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure,” (Ps. 147:5).
Our God cannot be measured. He is great, and greatly to be praised. Fear can be quantified to that of our current circumstance, but God is eternal and triumphs over the whiles of the devil.
“Because God knows all things perfectly, he knows no thing better than any other thing, but all things equally well. He never discovers anything, he is never surprised, never amazed.” A.W. Tozer
FRIEND, This may be one of the simplest devotionals I’ve ever written but I believe that’s the whole point. Fear tries to complicate. It rears its ugly head to intimidate the children of God into believing it has ground to stand upon. But it doesn’t. The truth is: God is bigger than your fear. You don’t have to live in fear any longer. You can let go and allow the God who creates a billion stars to lavish you in love, mercy and wash you in truth today.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7, KJV
TODAY: Allow the Spirit of Truth to reveal how big your God is! Let these words from the Holy Spirit, God is bigger than your fear, to refresh and water your soul.
