“God doesn’t look at the outward appearance, He looks at the heart.”—1 Samuel 16:7

We live in such a success or failure culture it makes it hard for us to see how God sees us. God isn’t looking at our success or our failure as a gauge for how He feels about us. I hear it all the time; “I just want to make him/her proud…” Whether it’s a parent, or a child, or a spouse we are trying to make proud the measurement is typically the same, it’s not based on effort it’s based on success or failure.

In order to get to the heart of God towards us we need to look beyond the success / failure model.

As today’s scripture says, “God doesn’t look at the outward appearance, He looks at the heart.”

He looks at our effort; our heart.

He looks at whether we are being obedient and faithful with what He is giving us. One of the things God has called me to do write. Now do you think that God needs me to be a New York Times best selling author before He is proud of me for writing? Absolutely not! He’s proud of me the very second I sit down and start writing. Because it’s in that moment that I am stewarding the gift He has given me. Where my writing goes is in His hands. The same goes with anything.

God is interested in developing our character. The world often defines our lack of worldly success as failure when God is looking at the situation saying, “Ok. Now Krissy (insert your name) is ready. She is rising above this situation with peace and confidence in Me. She is bearing much fruit. She’s ready for the next step.”

“In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”—Romans 8:28 NIV

He uses every situation in our life for His good and His glory. But most importantly—today—you need to know that the Father is very proud of you when you simply take a step. Because though the step may seem simple or even miniscule to you—in the reality of the Kingdom of God your step is a HUGE demonstration of your trust in the Father. And trusting Him requires an increase of faith. And it’s as you grow in faith that you’ll see those mountains before you begin to move out of the way.

So keep on stepping. Keep on trusting. And allow God to keep on developing your character. God sees your heart. He is proud of you. You are a good child. And He is a good, good Father.

I love you!

Krissy

P.S. How can I be praying for you today??
