“If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:31–32 NIV
The Greek word for know in this scripture is ‘ginwskw’ pronounced, ghin-oce’-ko, which means a deep knowing—an intimacy. It isn’t the memorization of the scriptures that Jesus declares will make us free, it is the deep intimacy with the Word of Truth. And John 1:14 proclaims that Jesus is the Word made flesh. Friend, the freedom that comes from knowing the truth is through deep, intimate knowing. The knowing that comes from the secret place. It’s the “abiding in Him” that Jesus discusses in John 15:4, “remain in Me and I will remain in you”. It is vital that we are rooted and grounded in the word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart,” (NIV).
The more we know Truth through the word of God the less confusion and deception has a chance to throw us off track. It is critical in the day and age we are living in to know absolute truth, which is in every word that God has spoken and inspired through the scriptures.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” —2 Timothy 3:16–17 NIV
God intends for us to live an abundant life which He made provision for through the sacrifice of His beloved Son (John 10:10). The enemy has an agenda to confuse truth. He desires to steal, kill and destroy any chance we have at enjoying the presence of God and knowing Truth. He wants to keep us bound as slaves to sin. But the reality is, when you know the truth, when you really truly know it for yourself and not what other’s are telling you it says, then you are free. And you know first hand that the enemy has already lost and that you hold the keys to victory! You hold the keys to the abundant life Jesus died for you to have!
I want to encourage you today friend—get into the word of God!
His word will cut through any false teaching you’ve inadvertently listened to. It will destroy any confusion you may be walking in. It will reveal who He is and thus reveal who you are in Him. And most certainly, knowing the truth will cause you to walk in true freedom and joy because you’ll know more than just words written on paper… you’ll deeply and intimately know the author and perfecter of faith (Heb.12:2)!
I love you,
Krissy
P.S. How can I be praying for you today?

Wow thanks Krissy!!!! I have kept seeing and thinking about two of these verses lately. I have been really getting into the bible lately and its really awesome because I think that I will be set free, hopefully soon!
Praise God Erin! I love the way He confirms our path. Keep doing what you’re doing—reading the Word and growing. Don’t forget to pause and listen too… God is always speaking. He will speak to you and breathe new life into you! As you know Him more and more you will find that some of the areas you once struggled with are no longer an issue. 🙂 God is faithful! I’ll be praying for you! Keep me posted! Blessings!! Krissy
Thank you Krissy! The thing is I haven’t heard God for quite some time. I guess when I read the Bible sometimes I get new ideas. But I don’t hear Him in my heart.
I’ll be praying your ears are open to His voice. I believe He is speaking to you and you will begin to discern Him more clearly as you continue to spend time with Him, in the Word and in prayer. I’ve found that a lot of the times those “new ideas” we get when reading the word is a way He speaks to us. 🙂 So you’re hearing Him more than you may even realize. Just keep doing what you’re doing… sounds like you’re on the right track my friend. Bless you!!
