“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” —Isaiah 53:5
Life gets tough. Things happen. Tragedy strikes. It’s easy for us to get lost in a sea of issues in our everyday life. Our thoughts get tangled in a web of chaos and before we know it we are stuck in this proverbial “why me” mindset. Don’t get me wrong, life can be downright hard! Real tragedies are happening to people each day—but there is hope.
This morning while driving I began to think about this victim mindset that so many of us get tangled up in. The phrase “why me” leaves the lips of many of us each and every day. Pondering this topic the Holy Spirit showed me an answer for victory in our lives over this “why me” mindset. The answer is found in Jesus, and it’s in our verse for the day.
God is wanting to bring His children out of a place of “this is happening to ME” to a “this has already happened to HIM” mindset.
Our scripture for today declares that He, Jesus, was pierced for our transgressions! He was beaten, crushed, bruised, spit on, mocked, falsely accused! He was rejected by the ones He loved most, betrayed, abused, everything you can think of—His life got tough! Our punishment for sin was on Him that lonely day at Calvary. Isn’t it wonderful that He endured it all so you could have peace?
“Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.” —Isaiah 53:4
FRIEND, Let’s face it, life gets tough some times! But everything we go through in life, no matter how painful, no matter what kind of betrayal, rejection, false accusation, brokenness—it all already happened to Him. So we are no victim. We are actually victors in Christ Jesus!
Don’t allow the why me mindset that the enemy wants to give you to rule and reign in your mind and life. Rather, allow the mind of Christ be in you to accomplish the impossible in your mind. Allow His thoughts to rule your life. When you see Jesus and you see what He bore for you there on the Cross you will see that your pain was on Him and you can find peace.
TODAY: Just see Jesus and all that He endured for you, and Allow His peace to refresh and water your soul.
