Seeking God is foundational in our relationship with Him. As believers there’s this baseline in our relationship with God. It’s an understanding. That He supplies all of our needs according to His riches and glory (Phil. 4:19). That we don’t need to worry about tomorrow (Matt. 6:34). And that we can simply come to Him and find rest for our souls (Matt. 11:28).
When we stop seeking Him our soul becomes dry and thirsty.
Our soul cannot be satisfied on food, entertainment, or earthly relationships. Try as we might these things will never satisfy. Jesus said it best, “Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4). The word of God in our life is like fresh manna from heaven. His word sustains our soul, nourishes our soul, and strengthens our soul.
Friend, in the day and age we are living in with information coming full speed at us from every outlet possible, we need to be seeking the Lord and listening to the voice of God daily in order to feed our soul. Our physical bodies become satisfied through so many other aveneus creating a phasad of contentment while inside we are dying! Our souls are crying out from within us, “Give me water! I’m thirsty… Give me bread! I’m starving…” Jesus said to the woman at the well, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water,” John 4:10.
Jesus is the living water our soul needs in order to be satisfied, nourished and strong.
