Driving down the road I pondered my life and the many exciting, and somewhat scary, adventures ahead. Woven throughout the narrative the Lord was speaking and unveiling I could feel worry and doubt begin creeping in. The more I entertained the thoughts of doubt I noticed worry begin to increase in my mind until eventually my thoughts had shifted from excitement to worry.
How is this all going to work out?
Why me God?
I can’t do that.
Worry began to swell into large waves in my mind as thoughts of doubt crashed as waves crash on the shoreline during a storm. One after the other feelings of inferiority, discouragement and fear stirred up until finally, I cried out to God—help me!!
And just like that God spoke! His words were swift, canceling the storm in my mind as peace came thundering in! Instantly a divine dialogue began as God spoke truth,
Have I not been good?
Yes, God, You’ve been so good to me.
I pulled up to a stoplight, closed my eyes and recalled His goodness in my life.
Will I not continue to be good?
Yes God, You’ll continue to be good.
Am I not the same yesterday, today and forever?
Yes God, You’re the same God yesterday, today and forever. You are good. And You’ll always be good.
And just like that I got it. I really got it! Friend, we serve an awesome God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever more (Heb. 13:8). He doesn’t change His nature. He is good. What has God done for you? Psalm 105 says we are to remember the wonders of the Lord.
God is Good!
If you’re going through something right now I want to encourage you to stop right now. Pause. And recall the goodness of God in your life.
Has He not been good?
Will He not continue to be good?
If you have a need today simply begin to thank God for answering prayer in your life. Thank Him for all He has done and all He will do. We enter into His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise (Ps. 100:4).
If you’re going through a storm and you find yourself entertaining the dialogue of doubt, worry and fear begin to cry out to God for His word of truth in your heart today!
His word pierces the darkness and deposits hope!
His word slices the chaos and releases peace!
“The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10
I pray that the Lord would strengthen you today as you listen to Him. What does God think about you? What is He speaking over you now? How does He feel about you? What is He saying to you?
This Week’s Challenge: Remember the goodness of God each and every day. Has He been good? Will He not continue to be good? Remind yourself each and every day of the wonders of God’s goodness in your life.
