“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” —Isaiah 40:31 NIV

Have you ever found yourself in a season of life where you just can’t figure out what to do? Maybe you’ve prayed and you don’t feel you’re getting any answers. You’ve saught wise counsel. You’ve thought long and hard and yet still, nothin. Nadda!

You just don’t know what to do.

I believe many of us have been there. To be honest, I personally feel as though I flow in and out of this type of season often.

So what do you do when you don’t know what to do?

You wait.

Waiting on God is one of those proverbial “easier said than done” sort of things. Most of us are familiar with today’s scripture from  Isaiah 40:31. If you’re like me you may even have tucked in your Bible somewhere that classic bookmark with this scripture written atop the beautiful mountain landscape where the eagle soars high above the snow-topped mountains. You know the one. But as beautiful and serene as the photo is the real life picture of waiting can feel anything but peaceful.

Be encouraged today friend, that as you wait upon the Lord your strength is actually being renewed. These seasons of waiting seem to often accompany seasons of transition. Something new is on the horizon. God is preparing you for what He has next in your journey.

So first the waiting.

The preparation.

The strengthening.

Then the soaring.

The running.

The walking.

God knows what you need before you need it. Its almost as though these waiting seasons are God pressing a brief pause on your life so He can download new revelation, strengthen your character and heart equiping you for what’s ahead on the journey. This way you’re ready when it comes. Your strengthened so now as you run you’re assured—you won’t grow weary. When you walk you’re promised—you won’t faint.

You’re ready to soar.

When I was a kid I used to study eagles. Did you know that when an eagle is perched on a tree branch seemingly resting it is actually digging it’s talon’s deep into the branch strengthening it’s claws? It’s being prepared and equipped to fulfill its purpose.

Seasons of waiting are also opportunities for us to trust God more. When we don’t know what’s ahead we are left trusting God in a way we have never trusted Him before.

As Proverbs 3:5 declares, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight,” (NIV).

So today know this, when you don’t know what to do—wait on the Lord and trust Him.

Know that you know that you know—He has a plan.

“I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.” —Isaiah 46:10 NIV

Look to Jesus friend.

He is the author of your story.

He is the perfecter of your faith (Heb. 12:2).

I pray that today you release all your cares and anxiety to the Lord because He cares for you (1 Pet. 5:7). If you feel like you don’t know what to do have peace in knowing that He does. It may not all be revealed to you just yet but if you put your hope and trust in Him leaning not on your own understanding He will direct your path. It’s just what He does. Commit your ways to the Lord and trust in Him (Ps. 37:5).

Eventually you’ll know which step to take next but in the mean time, just wait.

I love you,

Krissy

P.S. How can I be praying for you today?
