“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. ‘Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.'” —Matthew 10:28-29 NIV
Do you ever have those days when you feel empty? Like you have nothing left to give?
I know I do.
Well my friend, consider this a public service announcement to remind you of a very simple, yet often forgotten, truth—something the Holy Spirit reminded me of!
When you feel like you’ve got nothin, you’ve got Jesus.
Faith is most crucial when times are tough. When we begin to feel empty, run down, at the end of our rope—this is when faith is most important. Faith gives substance to what we hope for… to what we can’t see.. it gives us something to cling to!
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” —Hebrews 11:1 KJV
It’s easy to believe everything is going to be ok when everything is actually OK.
Jesus shows us where to find rest and peace of mind and it’s in Him.
He is the way… He is the only way.
He is truth.
He is light.
So when you feeling empty, like you have nothing left to give, remember—you have Jesus. And Jesus gave everything for you so that you could access His rest without limit. He paid it all so that in these seasons you would have a hope to cling to and assurance of faith.
Have you ever wondered why, in John 16:7, He said it was better that He go to the Father? What could be better than having Jesus—the Son of God—walking among us, holding our hand, walking in fellowship with us?
I’ll tell you—the only thing better is that He live inside of us!
And that is precicely what happened when Jesus ascended in Acts 1:9 to go be with the Father. He released His spirit into the earth to breathe new life inside all who believe. His spirit lights a fire inside of us and the old man passes away and we become brand new creations in Christ Jesus our Lord (2 Cor. 5:17)!
His precious Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, who communicates directly with the Father lives inside of you and me (John 16:13)! He empowers us in all things! He even helps strengthen our faith!
So be encouraged today, and everyday, that when you feel like you have nothing left to give… you have Jesus. And He breathes life from within your very soul, restoring you from the inside out!
Take a moment right now and ask the Holy Spirit to move in you. Focus your heart and attention on your King Jesus and His spirit at work within you. Allow Him to stir up what’s been planted and fill you up with His presecnce. Draw near to Him and you’ll move from empty to full finding rest for your soul and peace for your day.
I love you!
Krissy
P.S. How can I be praying for you today?
Praying for a mighty movement bt Jesus in my life. No job, no insurance, health issues, emptiness, feel hopeless.
Patricia–I’m praying in agreement with you!! Believing that as you seek the Lord He will give you wisdom and vision. I just wrote about Joseph in a previous Devotional called When You’re Waiting on God’s Promises… his circumstances seemed dire… but he clung to God’s promise even when he was accused, rejected, and thrown in prison. I can only imagine how often he felt like giving up. Thankfully he didn’t. God always comes through, it’s not a matter of if but when. So know that you’re not alone… I will continue to pray for you and believe for a miracle and breakthrough in your life!! Blessings sister!! Krissy
